why buy a domain

With over 800 registrants, I can only name like 5..
Why pay a lot for a domain from namecheap, when you can get one for only like $4 from some other place?
Is there any problems I should be aware about?

You're right, I always look for coupons that could buy cheaper domains than the famous registrars out there. But it usually depends, some people just stick to Godaddy or namecheap just to be on the safe side especially if they are thinking of making the site big in the future.
