Tourist traffic? I'm a total noob when it comes to websites that aren't about gaming, or for other webmasters.

Why the hell would you do that? I think you should make something you atleast have some knowledge about, or are personally interested in.

No need to be rude to other posters sir. But I do think that you should have some research to a project before you start it. Without any foundation how are you going to build a cash cow? The answer to this is very simple you are not! :( So dot your I's and cross your T's before just getting any old domain name. Make sure it is something you want to work with.
